Scene 1
Durga tells the family that she still wants to study. Rajesh says I don’t think that’s needed. Madhav says if she becomes a doctor then what’s wrong with that? Rajesh says we don’t let our women study and go out of house like that. She is my wife so its my decision. Durga tells Aarti that she will fulfil her promise, just bless me. She tries to touch her feet but Aarti angrily leaves. Durga tries to talk to Savitri but she says you are dead to us, don’t ever come back here, she leaves from there. Madhav says you have hurt us a lot, he won’t even let you study now. Durga says nobody can stop me from studying. Durga asks Vikram if he can bless her? he nods so she sits in his feet and takes his blessings. Bai says she is acting so pious now but what about touching your husband’s feet? Durga says you don’t need to interfere between me and my husband, its my decision only. Bai says how dare you talk to me like this? Durga looks at Anurag and says you tried your best to make me study so I promise to continue my studies. He says he doesn’t care if she studies anymore, she isn’t part of his life anymore so he doesn’t care what she does with her life anymore. Durga is hurt hearing that.
Scene 2
Anurag comes to the tree and looks at their names written there. He cries and shouts how could Durga do this? I can’t forget her, why did she do this with me? why did she choose Rajesh over me? I don’t know what to do.. I am in so much pain. He says I can’t bear this betrayal, I need to find peace. He says I loved her since the time I didn’t even know what love was. He cuts off Durga’s name from the tree and cries.
Bai tells Durga that girls usually visit their parental home after marriage but this isn’t her house so she shouldn’t come back here. You have brought enough shame to us so don’t come here anymore.
Anurag cries and says how could she do this with me? I have no regret because my love was pure and true. He cries and says everything is gone.. their memories, their promises.. everything.
Bai asks Durga to leave and never come back. Durga says you think I want to come back here? She says sinners have to pay the price. Rajesh asks what she means? Durga says I am a sinner so I should pay the price right? She says bye to Bai and says no one will see my face again in this house, you should be happy? I mean you always wanted me to get married right? Bais says yes, I am happy that you are married to Rajesh. Durga says bye to Vikram and says I have learned life lessons from you, I will raise my voice against injustice always. She glares at Rajesh.
